UII ASEAN Scholarship - Eligibility Criteria and Language Requirement



To be eligible for a UII-ASEAN Scholarship (UAS) you must:

  • Be a citizen of a UAS-eligible country (Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Philippines, Myanmar, Brunei Darussalam, Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia).
  • Return to your country of citizenship after your scholarship has ended.
  • Have a minimum entry requirement of academic record in high school. Minimum score may vary by country (detailed minimum score explained on the following Table).

You are not eligible for a UII-ASEAN Scholarship (UAS) if you:

  • Hold Indonesian citizenship.
  • Are a university student, an employee, a relative of an employee, or a former employee of Universitas Islam Indonesia.



In order to receive a UII-ASEAN Scholarship, all applicants must demonstrate that they have fulfilled the language requirement by 1 July 2016. We advise all applicants to ensure they have fulfilled the English language requirement as early as possible by taking an English language test. All applicants whose native language is not English must submit test results for TOEFL (minimum requirement of International TOEFL and ITP of at least 450) or IELTS (at least 5.5 overall band).

Note 1: A Levels: A=5, B=4, C=3, D=2, E=1 (add points for best 2 or 3 subjects, do not include General Paper or local language)
Note 2: STPM: A&A-=5, B+=4, B=3, B-&C+=2, C=1 (add points for no more than 3 subjects)
Note 3: UEC = A1=1, A2=2, B3=3, B4=4, B5=5, B6=6, C7=7 (add points for no more than 5 subjects, do not include General Paper, Chinese or Bahasa Malaysia)
Note 4: Where secondary schooling isn’t accepted students must satisfactorily complete one year of study at a higher education institute or equivalent, which is recognised on NOOSR or UK Naric. No credit will be granted into the first year of the Bachelor degree. Alternatively they can undertake an approved foundation program.
